Philadelphia 01:51
Philadelphia See the bell Hear it ring Hear the sound Don’t leave town We need you here to please the world Liberty hall To Freedom place Share your face Share your body too We need you here to please the world Don’t be selfish and don’t be scared On their feet The statesmen meet On broke brick streets To lay down rules We need you here to please the world Don’t be selfish and don’t be scared We need you here to please the world Don’t hold out now, please the world

Orlando 03:55
Orlando Every year there’s another bed, another pillow under my head Another color on the wall and I don’t think of you at all Every year there’s another town with some other streets to drive around Soon as I start knowing where I’m going I must leave There ain’t no fun in packing up and moving So I’m leaving everything behind Soon as I can win a hand I’m gonna be rambling Down that lonesome railroad line Every town’s got city halls and lamp posts and graffiti walls Where someone leaves their mark till someone else covers it up Every time I’ve paced I’ve dug my boots into another rug The patterns keep me busy so that I don’t think of you There ain’t no fun in walking around in circles But it occupies my time Soon as I can win a hand I’m gonna be rambling Down that lonesome railroad line Every month I pay my bills and I’m looking for a better deal Where what comes in might be a little more than what goes out Every day I say a prayer as I walk down my apartment stairs So that I do not see anything that reminds me of you There ain’t no fun in walking around in blinders So I’ll open my eyes up real wide Soon as I can win a hand I’m gonna be rambling Down that lonesome railroad line

Steamboat Springs Blues Pink sky at night is a sailor’s delight But a pink sky means nothing if you’re out of sight The dew’s coming down and the fog’s rising up To that full moon so orange and bright The springs all around us chug like a steamboat They rise from the ground and they’re forming a moat Between you and I underneath that pink sky So I guess I’ll lie here and float I wake up in a sweat everyday Because my darling has drifted away Big medicine river can ease all your pain It flows from the mountains like a liquid freight train It’ll sweep you away through the rocks and the clay From the forest out into the plains The aspen trees shoot up like spears in the air They catch all the birds and the bugs flying there If you were here I would show you my dear These mountains can answer your prayers I wake up in a sweat everyday Because my darling has drifted away

Nostalgic 04:38
Nostalgic I’ve been spending some time in my memories That summer we went to the lake I fell in love with your sister I guess we were victims of fate All that is way behind us now I know that my only mistake Was going to college and then never calling Letting you slip away Come now friend, I’ll pour us a drink, we’ll sing those songs of old I’m feeling a little nostalgic and you’ve got a heart of gold Although we are not related, you’ve been like a brother to me So get us another round boy, we’ll drink to family No our circle won’t be broken, by and by lord, by and by Not by time and not by distance, you’ve got a place in this heart of mine You taught me to fish and to fix a car You taught me to pick this guitar You made me drink that moonshine from a jar Until I fell down and saw stars You taught me to sing and to love everything And always belly up to the bar Never give up there is nothing in life that is ever too big or too hard Come now friend, I’ll pour us a drink, we’ll sing those songs of old I’m feeling a little nostalgic and you’ve got a heart of gold Although we are not related, you’ve been like a brother to me So get us another round boy, we’ll drink to family No our circle won’t be broken, by and by lord, by and by Not by time and not by distance, you’ve got a place in this heart of mine

Logsplitter’s Blues Them logs, boy, they ain’t gonna split themselves You can’t stay out all night, just raisin’ hell Drinkin that whiskey like it’s water from the bottom of a well You can’t plow no fields when you’re lying in the county jail With your woman all alone Pacing them floors and listening for the telephone You know one day her top is gonna blow Then you ain’t gonna have no safe place to go That work, boy, it ain’t gonna get itself done You can’t stay out all night just bookin fun Come home around dawn and you get outta bed around 1:00pm Well the chicken flew the coupe and you know that the rooster done gone And your friends say “boy, you oughtta go home” You can’t stay out all night just gettin stoned Leave your woman all alone You can’t get no water from the well when it’s dry as a bone

One Bad Lemon One bad lemon gonna spoil the whole bunch One bad lemon gonna spoil the whole bunch One bad lemon gonna spoil the whole bunch So you better pick that fruit with care You climb to the top of the lemon tree You climb to the top of the lemon tree You climb to the top of the lemon tree Don’t drop that fruit on the ground A 50 pound bag of lemons A 50 pound bag indeed That is a whole lot of lemons I wish I had that much weed I’d get me a hundred thousand dollars Then I’d buy a house in the woods We’d go fishing from dusk till dawn Baby don’t that sound good One bad lemon gonna spoil the whole bunch One bad lemon gonna spoil the whole bunch One bad lemon gonna spoil the whole bunch So you better pick that fruit with care

Oviedo Waltz 03:14
Oviedo Waltz i know a lady who looks like a sailor she's drunk and she drools when she talks i think that she's been on shore leave too long now it's time to head back to the docks oh no, watch them go, sit back and watch the parade as it rolls so many people without any loving, so many without any soul i know a girl with eyes black as coal she drinks like a fish and she smokes like a stove she never thinks about heaven or hell, but she'll take a beating and then say oh well oh no, watch them go, sit back and watch the parade as it rolls so many people without any loving, so many without any soul i know a boy who only counts backwards waiting for things to explode i haven't seen him in so many years now i guess i'll wait for his parole oh no, watch them go, sit back and watch the parade as it rolls so many people without any loving, so many without any soul i know a preacher who only sees numbers a church full of dollar signs he is a shepherd, a wolf in sheep's clothing this flock only has so much time oh no, watch them go, sit back and watch the parade as it rolls so many people without any loving, so many without any soul

Let Me Be 02:34
Let Me Be Let me be troubled oh lord Let me live life not afraid of your word Let me feel pain as sharp as a sword Let me be troubled oh lord It’s hard to have faith when you’ve seen a friend die It’s hard to believe why a father must cry It’s hard to be holy and watch a mother mourn Let me be steadfast oh lord His car hit a telephone pole He stepped on the gas and got out of control He lost all his plans, his life, and his gold Let me regard him oh lord Please let me go back home In a city I can’t find a place to be all alone In a city I can’t stop long enough to get bored Let me be weary oh lord There’s so many roads and there’s so little time There’s roads that are straight as the white river line How do I choose when I’m lost and I’m blind And the smog in this city is filling up my mind Please let me take it all back To the time when I walked along the railroad tracks If I could go back there I’d never have roamed Lord send me back to my home

Where Do We Go From Here Lost in a small town near the birthplace of Lincoln In the middle of a Saturday night Two young lovers were frantically searching their maps by the dashboard light Don’t lose your temper said Ellen to Jimmy, we don’t want to get in a fight All of my life I’ve been making these left turns, probably shoulda taken some rights Where do we go from here? Can you help me, my path is unclear We’ve been spinning our wheels and I hate how this feels Where do we go from here Ellen and Jimmy met each other when they were only thirteen Her cheerleading picture hung in the school hallway, the prettiest picture he’d seen One night at a football game behind the bleachers he asked her “will you go with me?” “Go where?” she said, and he still hasn’t answered, he’s probably lost in a dream Where do we go from here? Can you help me, my path is unclear We’ve been spinning our wheels and I hate how this feels Where do we go from here Ellen and Jimmy have been through some rough times But they’re still going full speed ahead They had to learn how to talk to each other And never have a fight before bed It ain’t easy always compromising, letting someone in your head You can spend a lifetime just trying to find answers in a poem that some stranger read Where do we go from here? Can you help me, my path is unclear We’ve been spinning our wheels and I hate how this feels Where do we go from here

Blackest Night The moon is covered up, the rain is pouring down I feel like I could scream, but I can’t make a sound Where are you? On the blackest night it don’t feel right to be blue I’m sitting on a gravel road, waiting on your headlights This road here’s so long, and you’re nowhere in sight Where are you? On the blackest night it don’t feel right to be blue I’ve been sitting here all night, maybe you just forgot I can’t find the patience, or take away these thoughts Where are you? On the blackest night it don’t feel right to be blue

Mary’s Long Gone I left my girl in Colorado, she said she was happier there Now I lay awake all night in this forest, dream of her dirty blonde hair When I left I knew she had no money, but you know she knows how to work the lot She’s in the show and all I hear is silence, this whisky is the only friend I’ve got But you can’t start a fire in the mountains It gets pretty cold up here at night If you ever see my precious Mary Won’t you tell her I was wrong and she was right I thought I seen her floating down the river, last night I swear I saw her in the stars My Mary’s long gone and I’ll probably never find her Sitting around in these old mountain bars. I’ve found myself a free place in this forest, and i done sold off everything I own If you see her point her to the northwest I’m making these here mountains my new home But you can’t start a fire in the mountains It gets pretty cold up here at night If you ever see my precious Mary Won’t you tell her I was wrong and she was right

Mountain Girl Come on down off of that mountain girl come down here and taste the ground x2 I can’t gonna climb up there just so you can knock me back down Climb down from that horse now woman I ain’t gonna chase you down the street x2 I ain’t got no breath left, and I got bruises on my feet Stop pointing your fingers and stop calling me names I’m tired of playing all these hide and seek games You’re only standing on the other side of a train But this train is 10 miles long, and I’d stop it but I’m not that strong Come on up out of that river baby, come up here on the dry land x2 I’ll give you a towel to dry off with, if you would give me your hand I ain’t climbing up that tree to get you darling, I don’t trust those limbs x2 You could have a fine time with me if you’d just forget about him Stop pointing your fingers and stop calling me names I’m tired of playing all these hide and seek games You’re only standing on the other side of a train But this train is 10 miles long, and I’d stop it but I’m not that strong

Rattlesnake Country It’s getting dark in this old state park but the moon and the stars shine through The wind is blowing too hard to stand up and I’m sorry that I can’t follow you Leave me here to sit on this cliff, you’ll have to climb this one yourself And I swear that if you ever return I’ll be waiting here catching my breath These mountains are blowing away every day We’ll never have time to climb every one As long as there is something pure somewhere I will never turn and run away from you This rocky path is too rough to pass, we’ll probably not make it across We can walk the dried up river bed but it won’t get us to the same place Since we have no real destination I guess any place will be fine Because the sun has set behind the red rocks and we’ve already spent too much time These mountains are blowing away every day We’ll never have time to climb every one As long as there is something pure somewhere I will never turn and run away from you They’ve warned us to watch for the rattling snake but I haven’t seen any yet There are holes in the ground they’ve probably gone down But I’m watching your every step All that I see are the remains of the people who have been here before With their broken bottles and cigarette butts and microwave dinners for four These mountains are blowing away every day We’ll never have time to climb every one Soon they’ll be blown down to the ground As long as there is something pure somewhere I will never turn and run away from you

Indiana Southern i caught the indiana southern near a bridge on the white river from martinsville to hawthorne mine tonight i'll find a lady and we'll get a little crazy and stay ahead of johnny law who's not so far behind i'd had a problem with my father, see i told him not to bother and quit telling me i need to settle down so that night i went a ramblin i was drinkin i was gamblin some dude called me a liar and i shot him to the ground then i hitched a ride to terre haute, sin city on the high plateau by the banks of the wabash river grand the aroma there was awful except inside the brothel where the women wore the finest perfume ever made by man we drank a weeks worth of tequila, cranked the old barrel piano we had fun like it was goin out of style the women dressed so fancy and after 3 hours of dancing one said you can come up to my room and stay a little while she said her name was sarah and she'd come here for st. mary's but she stayed for all the money to be made you can make your dollars with so many gentleman callers it's probably the easiest way a woman can get paid early the next morning i saw the sheriff comin so i stole somebody's horse and off i rode the terre haute and richmond was rollin to the station so i went and bought a ticket at the nearest train depot i was on that train 4 hours passed fields and farms and flowers in the central indiana summer sun when we hit that circle city i thought what a pity because of one night now i'll spend my whole life on the run i got off the line at richmond, went to see a friend at earlham and we walked to the whitewater river gorge if the Genette Records label was willing and was able then i had some songs i desperately needed to record i sang one song for my mother, and another for my lover and another song repenting of my sins so if they ever caught me and a jury found me guilty my name would not just fade away into oblivion i want to be remembered as a singer not a killer but i'll never get this blood washed off my hands so i'm leaving here tomorrow riding on the norfolk southern i'll be running i'll be singing cross this unforgiving land

Pretty Little Gal of Mine Well i can't afford those precious stones, i can't afford a mansion home i do not wear them name brand clothes, and i don't know how your garden grows but i love my whiskey and i love my wine, i love that pretty little gal of mine i love getting into trouble most of the time, but i sure hate working overtime i'd rather be at home with a woman's wrath, than working for you for time and a half well i don't like coke, not anymore, and i never met the girl next door i get nervous in a grocery store, i never steal so what's that for i love my whiskey and i love my wine, i love that pretty little gal of mine i love getting into trouble most of the time, but i sure hate standing in the check out line i'd rather be at home with a woman's nag, than a supermarket aisle with a shopping bag the first girl that i ever had she was downright ugly, mean and mad drink down a bottle of home made wine, i was feeling good she was looking fine i don't mind waiting if it’s worth the wait, i don't mind working if i get a break i don't mind fishing in a muddy lake, and i don't mind dishing what i can't take but i can't stand drinking this bargain beer, and i can't stand thinking the end is near Why does W say “nukuler”, I think it’s pronounced “new-clear” i love my whiskey and i love my wine, i love that pretty little gal of mine love getting into trouble most the time, can't wait till 1-20-09 i'd rather be at home with a woman's love, offering an olive branch and a snow white dove
