I couldn’t say what I wanted before
Now all those thoughts are gone
Going through motions hurts a lot more than
Staying through motions at home
It’s hard to remember the good things you said
When the bad things still ring in my ears
We’ve tried several times to leave this place
But we never even got to the car
I know not to get close to that ledge
I’ve seen so many people fall off of it and not land on their feet
This here’s a picture of what my house looked like
Just a few minutes before it burned down
One day I’ll learn that everything burns when you
Can’t leave the furnace alone
But it’s gotten so cold in these past couple weeks
That my hands they got numb from the frost
And I couldn’t feel anything anywhere then
Because my fingers have always been crossed
I know not to get close to that ledge
I’ve seen so many people fall off it and not land on their feet
It’s not what you think, it’s what you say

Seems a lot harder to explain things and takes a lot longer to get a point across
I feel like I have to strain to keep my insides from falling out
I’m not eating or sleeping enough says the back of a bottle of pills
I can’t fit into this mold that you’ve made and are trying to fill
Do you think you can find someone who will?
Sorry if you don’t understand just exactly what I say, but
Spare me the stories of shit that’s all happened before
I can’t give my sympathy to everyone who asks for it
Just like you can’t save every sinking ship
Do you think you can change what’s to come?

I will fill you with the trust that someone will always be there whether you like it or not
When you aren’t feeling up to par
You could fill my heart with pain
You could fill my mind up with clouds and rain
You could fill me with the fear that if I make any mistakes or any false movements
I’ll be gone and never see the light of day again
He could line your pockets with gold
He could tell you stories someone else told
He could take my place in a heartbeat because he is the next in line
But he don’t know that he’s putting in his time just so you can use him as a threat
I could shut my mouth for you
I could shut my eyes and never watch you
I could shut my door and sit here waiting for you to come to me
I’m sure that you would come eventually, but what would your motivation be, and
Should it really come down to that?
